How it is scored
Speed is (correct characters ÷ 5) ÷ minutes. Five characters, spaces included, count as one standard word, so the score does not depend on how long the words in the passage happen to be. Characters you got wrong are not counted. Accuracy is the share of your keystrokes that were correct, so a mistake you fix with backspace still costs you accuracy.

Tips to improve
Look at the text, not the keyboard. Aim for accuracy above 95% first; speed follows once the errors stop. A few short sessions each day work better than one long one. Pasting is disabled so the result reflects real typing.

How is WPM calculated?
Words per minute counts every five correctly typed characters, including spaces, as one word, divided by the minutes elapsed. Wrong characters do not count toward the total.
What is a good typing speed?
The average adult types around 40 WPM. 60 to 80 WPM is strong for office work, and above 100 WPM is professional level. Accuracy above 95% matters as much as speed.
