Structured Data Validator

Paste your page HTML or JSON-LD to find syntax errors and missing fields before search engines do.

What this checks

Structured data is extra markup, usually JSON-LD, that tells search engines what a page is about: a product, an article, an FAQ, a business. When it is correct, a page can qualify for rich results such as star ratings, FAQ dropdowns and breadcrumbs. When it has errors, search engines may ignore it.

Paste your page's HTML and the tool finds every JSON-LD block, or paste the JSON-LD on its own. For each block it checks:

CheckWhat it catches
JSON syntaxA missing comma, quote or bracket that makes the whole block unreadable
@context and @typeA block that does not say it is schema.org, or does not say what it describes
Required and recommended fieldsFor common types such as Article, Product, FAQPage, LocalBusiness, BreadcrumbList, Recipe, Event and VideoObject, including nested items such as each FAQ question
Dates and URLsDates that are not in ISO 8601 form, and links that are not full https:// addresses

This is a quick first check, not a replacement for Google's Rich Results Test. It covers the most common types and fields, does not read Microdata or RDFa, and cannot tell whether a page is eligible for a particular rich result. Types it does not know are listed with a note. The check runs in your browser and nothing you paste is uploaded.

Frequently asked

What is JSON-LD?

JSON-LD is a way of writing structured data as a block of JSON inside a script tag. It is the format Google recommends, and it sits apart from the visible page so it is easy to add and edit.

What is the difference between an error and a warning?

"Fix" means a required field is missing or the data is broken, so search engines may ignore it. "Check" means a recommended field is missing or something looks off. The page can still work, but you may be leaving out useful detail.

Does passing this guarantee rich results?

No. Search engines decide whether to show rich results, and the markup must also match the visible content of the page. Use Google's Rich Results Test for a final check.

Why does it say my type has no checks?

The tool checks the most common types. For others, such as JobPosting or Course, the block is still checked for valid JSON, @context and @type, and you can test the rest with Google's tool.

Is my markup uploaded?

No. The check runs in your browser and nothing is sent to a server.
