How it's calculated
Your target overall grade is a weighted mix of what you've already earned and the remaining exam: Target = CurrentAvg × (1 − ExamWeight) + RequiredScore × ExamWeight. Solving for the required score gives (Target − CurrentAvg × (1 − ExamWeight)) ÷ ExamWeight.
Worked example
Current average 82%, exam worth 30% of the grade, target 85% overall: required score = (85 − 82×0.7) ÷ 0.3 = (85 − 57.4) ÷ 0.3 = 92%.

What does it mean if the required score is over 100%?
It means the target isn't reachable through this exam alone, even with a perfect score — your current average and the exam's weight can't add up to the target. You'd need a higher current average or extra credit elsewhere.
What is "exam weight"?
The percentage of your overall grade that this one exam counts for. If your syllabus says the final is worth 30% of the course grade, enter 30.
