BMR Calculator
Your basal metabolic rate is roughly how many calories your body burns at complete rest. Enter your details to estimate it using the Mifflin-St Jeor formula.
Not a diagnosis. This is a formula-based estimate — see the Health & Fitness section intro for more on that.
How it's calculated
Mifflin-St Jeor formula: 10 × weight(kg) + 6.25 × height(cm) − 5 × age + 5 for men, or − 161 instead of + 5 for women.
Frequently asked
What's the difference between BMR and TDEE?
BMR is the energy your body uses at complete rest, doing nothing. TDEE adds your activity level on top of BMR, giving a more realistic daily calorie figure. Use the TDEE Calculator once you have your BMR.
Why does this need weight, height and age?
The Mifflin-St Jeor formula estimates resting energy use from body size and age, since larger bodies and younger people generally burn more at rest. It's a formula-based estimate, not a measurement of your actual metabolism.
