BIMI Record Generator

Create the BIMI record for your domain and get your logo into the SVG Tiny PS format BIMI requires. You host the files; nothing is uploaded.

PUBLISH AS A TXT RECORD NAMED default._bimi

BIMI ONLY WORKS WITH ENFORCING DMARC

Check and fix your logo file

Your logo is read in this page and never uploaded. You host the file yourself.

How it works

BIMI (Brand Indicators for Message Identification) lets supporting mail apps show your logo next to mail from your domain. You publish a TXT record at default._bimi.yourdomain.com that points to a logo file, and optionally to a certificate. This tool builds that record and prepares the logo.

You host the files. This tool never stores your logo or issues a certificate. Upload the SVG to your own web server or CDN over HTTPS, paste its address in the form, and publish the record in your DNS panel.

TagMeaning
v=BIMI1Version. Must come first.
l=https URL of your logo, an SVG Tiny PS file.
a=https URL of a VMC or CMC certificate (.pem), from a certificate authority. Optional, but some providers require it.

What a BIMI logo must look like

BIMI does not accept ordinary SVG exports. The checker flags the points below, based on the published SVG Tiny PS guidelines. Mail providers make the final decision, so always test with a real sending domain.

RuleWhy
version="1.2" and baseProfile="tiny-ps"Marks the file as the restricted profile BIMI uses.
A <title> directly inside <svg>Required, and should name your brand.
Square (1:1) shape, no x or y on the rootApps crop the logo to a square or circle.
No scripts, animation, links or embedded or linked imagesLogos must be inert, self-contained vector art.
Under about 32 KB, text turned into outlinesFast to load, and fonts are not embedded.

"Make BIMI-ready" fixes the mechanical items for you: the version and profile, the title, the root attributes, a viewBox, and anything forbidden. It cannot reshape a non-square logo or convert text to outlines, so those stay flagged for you to fix in your design tool.

No SVG yet? Make one from a PNG, JPG or monogram with the BIMI Logo Maker.

Once the record is published, confirm it with the BIMI Record Checker. BIMI needs an enforcing DMARC policy first; build one with the DMARC Record Generator.

Frequently asked

Do I need a certificate for BIMI?

It depends on the mail provider. Gmail needs a VMC or CMC certificate to show your logo, and Apple Mail needs a certificate too. Some providers, such as Yahoo and Fastmail, can show a logo without one. Certificates are issued by certificate authorities, not by this tool, and provider rules change, so check their current requirements.

Does this tool upload or store my logo?

No. The logo is read inside your browser to check it, fix it and preview it. The fixed file is created on your device when you press Download. You then host it yourself.

Where should I host the logo?

Anywhere that serves it publicly over HTTPS with a valid certificate: your own web server, object storage or a CDN. Use a stable address, because mail providers fetch it, and serve it as an SVG (content type image/svg+xml).

Why is my logo not showing even though the record is published?

The usual causes are a DMARC policy that is not quarantine or reject at 100%, a logo that fails the SVG Tiny PS rules, a missing certificate at a provider that requires one, or a sending domain that does not pass DMARC. Providers also cache results, so changes can take a while to appear.

Can I use a PNG or a normal SVG from my design tool?

No. BIMI accepts only SVG Tiny PS. A normal SVG usually needs the version and profile attributes and a title added, and may contain things that are not allowed. Use Make BIMI-ready, then fix whatever the checker still flags.

What is the selector?

The selector is the first part of the record name. Mail apps look for default unless a message carries a BIMI-Selector header naming another one. Most domains only need default.
