About Free Fall Physics

Ideal Conditions

This calculator assumes no air resistance and constant gravitational acceleration. In reality, air resistance increases with velocity, eventually leading to terminal velocity.

Galileo's Principle

All objects fall at the same rate regardless of mass (in a vacuum). A feather and a hammer dropped together will hit the ground simultaneously.

Real World

On Earth, dense objects like bowling balls reach the ground faster than feathers due to air resistance, not because of different gravitational pulls.
